We designed and developed Anithings following a couple of observations with children’s ICT use. Firstly that creating animations is a wonderful medium for unlocking and enhancing children’s creativity, providing a visually stimulating medium for their ideas. But secondly that the frame-by-frame techniques currently used in schools can be a slow and cumbersome process for children who delight in seeing immediate results from their ideas and creativity.

Anithings works differently, taking a few concepts from Flash animations and adding some innovative features such as one-click motion recording and bolting shapes together to create animatable characters.

We hope we have created something original, fun and creative for children. The recent addition of simple audio recording has added yet another dimension and brings children’s animations to life even more.

Anithings can be run as either a desktop application or an online app embedded within a Lerning Platform. The product has received tremendous feedback since its launch in late 2009. It is used in schools across the UK and was recently shortlisted for a Bett Award.
